Essential Services

How can I receive advice on my medicines?

On receipt of your prescription, our pharmacist is available to provide any advice that you may need. You can indicate your preference to receive this advice, by email or telephone, and we will ensure that you are fully aware of any medication storage requirements, additional counselling and advice to ensure safe use of your medicines, and how to return unwanted medicines for safe destruction.

Repeat Dispensing

This is a scheme designed to increase patient choice and convenience, by allowing patients to obtain their regular prescribed medicines and appliances directly from a pharmacy of their choice for a period agreed by their prescribing clinician.

How is this different to an ordinary prescription?

This scheme is designed for patients with regular repeat medicines and can allow patients to receive a repeatable prescription, and related batch issues. This enables the patient to receive up to 12 months of prescriptions, and is designed to foster stronger relationships between the pharmacist and the patient. The scheme is designed to help the NHS by reducing unnecessary waste from prescribing, and to assist general practitioners by easing the burden in general practice.

Can Dispense 2 U provide this service?

This is an essential service which can be delivered through our accredited pharmacists. We have systems and processes in place to allow patients to use this service, if their GP agrees to do so.

How will I receive advice regarding my batch issues of repeat dispensing?

Prior to each dispensing episode, our pharmacist will ensure that you are taking or using your medicines correctly, ensure there are no compliance issues, or that you are not suffering any untoward side effects as a result of your medicine. We will check if there have been any changes to your medication regimen since your GP authorised your repeatable medication, or if there have been any changes to your health since that time.

Patient goals

Healthy lifestyles

We are committed to helping all our patients achieve their lifestyle aims. One of the essential services within our NHS Pharmacy contract is to provide opportunistic advice to patients receiving prescriptions who:

  • Have Diabetes
  • Have high blood pressure
  •  Are at risk of coronary heart disease
  • Who smoke
  • Who may be overweight

If you receive prescriptions from us, and have one of the above conditions, please do not hesitate to contact us for healthy lifestyle advice.

Public health campaigns

We are committed to partnering with Shropshire PCT to support 6 public health campaigns throughout the year. As a national provider of services, we also engage in national campaigns.

Please see the current campaigns below. If you have any questions about healthy lifestyles or your medicines in general, please do not forget you can always ask our friendly pharmacist team.

We are currently awaiting details of the latest campaign from Shropshire PCT.

At Dispense2U, we are keen to engage with national public health awareness campaigns. The Department of Health are repeating their national bowel cancer awareness campaign from the 28th August until end of September 2012. There are around 34,000 new cases of bowel cancer in England each year and more than 13,200 people die from the condition. Cancer survival in Britain is worse than those in comparable European countries and it is estimated that around 1,700 deaths from bowel cancer could be avoided each year if survival rates were as good as the best in Europe. Over 93% of bowel cancer patients diagnosed with the earliest stage of disease survive five years compared with less than 7% of those diagnosed with advanced disease.

We will be proactively supporting the 'Be Clear on Cancer campaign' so please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss this or any other concerns or questions you may have.

At Dispense 2 U, we aim to ensure that all of patient needs are met through our service. We recognise that patients may also require support, advice or treatment which cannot be provided through our pharmacy. We are well placed to signpost to other health and social care providers or support organisations which are more appropriate.

We always have your best interests at heart. Please do not hesitate to contact us to see if we can help, or alternatively signpost you to the most appropriate organisation.

At Dispense 2 U, we have established a pharmacist telephone consultation service designed to support patients (and their carers) obtaining advice and support.

We aim to provide you with the necessary information to manage your minor illness or long-term condition (e.g. asthma, diabetes, and osteoporosis). Although we are the experts in medicines, we believe in a holistic approach to health and well-being, and therefore advice is not limited to medicines. We try to focus on offering treatment options including non-medicine interventions and lifestyle advice. Please contact us by phone or email and we will be happy to help you.
